CAIRO and ALEXANDRIA

After breakfast at the hotel, our Egyptologist will guide you to discover the symbolic places of ancient Egypt. The day will begin on the Giza Plateau, where the legendary pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus stand, absolute masterpieces of human ingenuity and the last wonder of the ancient world still visible. In front of this timeless scenario, the Sphinx has been silently watching over for over four millennia.

Lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Memphis, the ancient capital of the kingdom, where you can admire the great Alabaster Sphinx and the famous colossus of Ramses II. The day will continue in Saqqara, dominated by  the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the oldest monumental stone construction of mankind, surrounded by the mastabas of high dignitaries. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast and departure to Alexandria, a city of unique charm founded by Alexander the Great and a crossroads of cultures between East and West. The visit will begin with the Qaitbay Fortress, erected on the site of the ancient Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

We will continue with the evocative Catacombs of Kom al Shokafa, an extraordinary example of fusion between Egyptian, Greek and Roman art, and with Pompey's Column and the remains of the Serapeum.

After lunch, visit to the new Library of Alexandria, a modern symbol of universal knowledge, the ideal heir to the ancient cultural center that illuminated the ancient world.

After breakfast return to Cairo. The day will be dedicated to the visit of the GEM – Great Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum in the world, custodian of over 100,000 artifacts. At the entrance, you will be greeted by the obelisk and the colossus of Ramses II, a prelude to the exciting encounter with Tutankhamun's treasure, the most complete ever found in Egypt.

Lunch in the city and continue to the Citadel of Saladin, an extraordinary medieval bulwark from which the entire metropolis is dominated, with the splendid Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. The day will end in the alleys of the souk of Khan el-Khalili, the beating heart of Cairo, among the scents of spices, artisan shops and ancient cafes. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast and check-out, transfer to Cairo International Airport for your return flight, taking with you the memory of a journey between the roots of civilization and the most authentic face of Egypt.
